it would, unless it is valve guide seals or something else. What deposits are on the face of the DOC can be an indicator on how healthy the engine itself is and if it is burning oil, coolant, etc.

So we took the exhaust pipe off between the turbo and dpf and did a snap test. A little black smoke like you would expect but nothing else. We ran it down the road no smoke at all. Than we put the pipe back on and ran it down the road white smoke almost instantly. So I agree with rawze. I don't think there's anything wrong. That being said I think we might still demandate it to get rid of it.
