What make/model engine?. == Make sure you have proper boost levels via a boost gauge. == Make sure the exhaust and egr system is not clogged up with soot, etc. .. especially the egr system. == make sure the egr valve is not hanging open. also, Depending on the engine model and how much EGR is used, the red engine maker themselves say that it can be as much as 6+ lbs of soot can be produced every 45,000 miles or so (such as a CM871).
