Engine swap gone bad….. help
Help … wallet on fire with no way to put it out….. ok my story on a swap gone bad. Had a Cummins friend who rebuilt the following engine.

Isx15 engine number 79940637 cpl 4586 build date 09/16 from a 2016 freightliner Cascadia vin 1FUJGLBG9HLJF0974 cm2350 epa 13 motor

Bought a blown up 2016 freightliner cascadia with the following motor in it

isx15 engine number 79830729 cpl 4583 build date 4/15 in a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia vin 3akjglbg6gshf6206 cm2350 epa 13 motor.

Installed engine and of course the engine will not communicate with chassis.. old ecm communicates with chassis won’t run engine. New engine ecm communicates with engine runs and drives won’t communicate with chassis no ecm detected won’t run anything in the cab.

What was I thinking trying to put a 2016 freightliner engine into a 2016 freightliner……
Just got back from Cummins and they said the ecm part numbers are different so they could not program the new ecm to run the chassis. my understanding is their was a baud rate change between 2015 and 2016 even though the chassis is titled as a 2016 it was manufactured in 2015 and thus the system operates at a 250k baud rate. The ecm on the new engine operates at a 500k baud rate I guess. I can say that the chassis does have the black j1939 plug not the green one.

I was wondering what I have to change on the chassis to bring it up to the 2016 standard I know I have to change the gateway but what else needs to be done… or is their something I can do to the engine to get it to run with this chassis. Already got a ton of money stuck in this need HELP!
