RE: Engine swap gone bad….. help
It sounds to me like your dealing with a someone clueless.

according to your post there ...

(your removing old engine) -> Engine ser# 79940637 as a CM2350-X101 engine. (program EF10343).

(installing replacement engine) -> Engine ser# 79830729 is also a CM2350-X101 engine. (program EF10082).

Internally, these 2 engines have the same compression ratio, same injection timing, same fuel settings, same injectors, same turbo, etc.etc.etc..

However, the programming itself for engine 79830729 (EF10082) is NOT compatible with the emissions systems for the truck, nor compatible with the the truck itself due to it being set to different buss speed. This is also why the CPL number is different. The engine internals that count are the same otherwise.

BTW: the ecm part# has nothing whatsoever to do with the buss speed. It can be changed int he programming easily enough for either ECM. The different part# for the ECM has to do with 2 things. They are...
A)> The newer model ECM can auto-detect the injector trim codes (not a big deal).
B)> The newer model ecm has support for an extra PM / NOx emissions sensors in the after treatment systems.

I.E.> that newer model ECM is NOT compatible with that truck.

-----------------------------
== SIMPLY RE-USE THE OLD ECM off the old engine, AND THE OLDER WIRING HARNESS for it as well. Put them onto the replacement engine. (some enignes)- If the fuel pressure sensor connector does not plug in, then swap the fuel sensor as well.

If it does not fire up and run, then there are other issues.

lastly.. if the engine has a delete program in it.. then copy it out of the ecm using Calterm software, and e-mail it to me for a review to ensure the replacement engine is not being chewed up by trash-can delete settings.
