RE: Freightliner M2 with Cummins ISC 8.3 uneven idle, won't rev. Properly working injectors are the main thing that are holding modern engines together. The only way they could make materials weaker and make engines more fuel efficient is that they replace iron with computer control and since modern diesels have pulse injection - fuel is injected at stages compared to just one on oldschool diesels. Properly working injectors ensure that engine bearings are not loaded more than their design capabilirt, that the combustion is spread out and there is no sharp peak premature combustion that hammers away the bearings and liners... Injectors have correction codes from factory so the engine ecu knows how they are working, since commonrail diesel injection is very precise and the injection opening timigs are in uS - microseconds. If somebody wants to argue how good their cheap reman or knock off are then after driving some time pull injectors. Take a boroscope and send us pictures from top of pistons and cylinder walls. | |||
