RE: Mx13 head scratcher
Yea that truck took a 180, not fuel issue at all it was electrical. Took me 3 hours to make fittings from old Cummins and dd15 motors to test the the pressure points the the service bulletin said check, did and they all passed. 2am, I gave up on it, picked up tools, cleaned up my mess, and was about to disconnect the laptop when something caught my eye. Engine mode in protection!!! Hmmmm how do I get it off protection mode? Egr derate reset? Dpf derate reset? Screw it I'll try both, again take in account I have no experience with mx13s and if I screw it up I'll just pay for what I screwed up. Well clicked egr button "success", click dpf derate button "success" looky looky no more protection mode. Cranked right up then the dreaded "STOP ENGINE" warning came up but no faults. Checked gauges everything good checked coolant it was full. Check live data everything checked out then it died.
AGAIN... CRANK..RUN...DIE...CRANK...RUN...DIE. no protection mode. Cleared codes. Nothing. Clear codes. Nothing. Gave up again cause it's 3am. "Third lucks the charm" rolled across my mind cleared the code for the last time and there it was OIL TEMP and OIL PRESSURE. Again??? I already fixed that though. Then a flashback, a few hours before the shophand stopped by to "get something he had left" and mentioned the "mechanic" was in the "big connections" again well I was assuming he was either double checking my work or anything else but not that he was sabotaging my work. Pulled C connector and the conectors were spread open again just the the two sensor connectors. Closed them up, tested on both sides and out of ECM, everything again was good so I thought. Would crank and no "Stop Engine" no fault but no oil pressure on gauge, clear clear clear now oil pressure and Stop Engine. The only thing I see wrong on live data is egr temp, scr outlet temp, air intake temp before and after IC all have default temp. I press egr derate reset it work but not the DPF one.
I have no info on the truck this is a side job which is usually 9pm-2am give or take and only communicate with the owner of the company and it's very little information what he has. His "mechanic" is a grumpy 66 yr old ex coworker of mine that despises the idea of me being called out there. So that's all I have. No engine tag and honestly I was to tired to research where to locate ESN to confirm SW are a match.
How would I retrieve calibration on an mx13? Which software? I've learned what little I know on Cummins from this forums, others as well, downloaded documents, videos, bought "instructional videos, and lots and lots and LOTS of hours in reading some through the night. Like I stated before I haven't dealt much on these motors and hate every bit of the kw multiplexing but it's something I need to learn it because that's what out there now not old fashioned 12v on off switches, relays and lights. It's become that when your cab light burns out it sends a 5g uhf signal through space station x to tell the truck to put the tire fuel thermister in limp mode.

Very much appreciate the help I've gotten
