This manual should give you everything you need to know to diagnose the F fault(s) and what is going on. A multimeter and follow the steps will help narrow down your trouble. Its a series of key on and off cycles to get it into diagnostic mode. Have a sheet of paper ready to write things down. Page 3 will get you started and tell you what to do and how to do it.

I've got an ultrashift myself. Couple months after I bought it the coolant/oil cooler on top the transmission sprung a leak and cause all kinds of trouble with the XY shifter. Kept it in low range and the system had a permanent code that needed a laptop to clear.
