| ISX CM871 tune and engine cpl help Try not to make this too long but I have alot of information for my problem. 2009 Cummins CM871 Just purchased the truck not long ago so its taken me some time to build the history to where I am now. Truck runs smooth with no misses or surging but its very weak on power and makes a very noticeable noise under load/boost. Sounds like its dieseling if that makes sense or like detonation ping on gasoline engine. So after alot of parts cannon and detective work I have discovered my issue I think. The engine in the truck isn't original and was replaced with different cpl engine of same year. Here's a quick run down: Trucks original engine was 2009 CM871 455hp with CPL2733 Replacement engine is 2009 CM871 450hp with CPL2732 Current engine within last 30k miles had full overhaul with new head, turbo, 6 injectors. Current engine has ecm from original engine which would make sense if they weren't different cpl. The main differences are turbo, injectors, injector cam, and compression. The injectors were purchased by original cpl 2733 so they are not matched to the current cam. So the calibration in ecm matches injectors but the cam is different and its 16:1 instead of 17:1. Here's my dilemma: The ecm is failing on a couple circuits so I have a new replacement but I have to have a calibration tune built for it and I need to know what direction to go here. I would love to know the exact differences in the injector cams between the 2 cpl, but I cant find that info. If I change the cam to the correct one to match injectors and tune, Will a calibration for the 2733 cpl work safely with the 16:1 pistons? I know theoretically it should be safer at a lower compression but I'm no calibration tune expert. I obviously want it to be as powerful and efficient as possible, but mostly I want it to be safe and last longer than 2 oil changes. According to (ECMTUNEUPS) page the cpl 2732 is good for 475hp/1750tq. The cpl 2733 is good for 550hp/1850tq. So if I change the cam to correct one the only other difference will be compression. Also, is it possible to have a calibration built to for it in the current arrangement and get the injector timing and other calibrations dialed in with the mismatched cam? I think I know the answer to that one. So not sure if anyone has the same luck that I do to get into these situations but any knowledgeable help would be appreciated. I cant afford for this thing to grenade prematurely so I want to get it lined out asap. Notes: all emissions are deleted, egr bypass tube, s400 borg warner. Current ecm is matched for these altercations. Not for argument, just more info | |||
