Exhaust manifold bolt holes stripped

why would you drill out the manifold itself?... it would likely have movement / gasket issues? .

Also if the ports become slightly mis-aligned, then it can trap heat at the joint, and that would not be good at all.

Just remove it and do the job to the cylinder head properly.

What I meant was drill out the bolt holes which I ended up using locking inserts that reduce down to the original bolt size.
