How to get started on clean running engine

I just did inframe on my 2010 kenworth 871 isx with 305,000. After buying it used from a big dealership.I need to get this engine running as good as I can get it. My mind is going everywhere because before this truck I was running a 93 detroit engine and this dpf stuff is all new and way to expensive . I want to get my truck tune , put spinner oil filter, and learn how to do insite but need help on how to get started doing what i need to get truck running clean. Any help would be great.
