Advice from a couple other drivers that were involved in accidents and had dash cams...

Just make sure it has a display with a playback feature, otherwise an officer on the scene may not accept watching the video if you are involved in an accident. Many of them will refuse to look at it if you have to transfer it to a laptop or other device.
