| RE: Isx15 randomly shutting down Well....update for y'all, truck is fixed! I had a apt set for Monday for two techs that were supposed to get together with a cummins insight and go haywire on troubleshooting. But I sat there thinking..and thinking, and thinking. My symptoms of shutting down ONLY during idle directed me towards what actually holds idle on this engine. What can cause the fuel pressure to fluctuate just above or below the minimum requirement, leading to stalling without consistently logging a "low fuel pressure" fault code? Or what part has wires goin to it that can throw a code but also has mechanical parts that can stick but the ECM may still believe it is operating correctly, preventing an electrical fault code? The dam FCA! The Fuel control actuator that sits on the high pressure pump. Replaced it, truck is back in service like nothing ever happened. No offense to anyone here but I get so dam tired of people always blaming the de mandate on my def for any engine issues that comes up. I could roll up to a shop and be low on windshield washer fluid and they will blame it on my def system lol. I 100 percent agree that the wrong program can cause a whole can of worms but I strongly think that would happen soon after. I drove this truck for 6 years after the delete with zero issues, I doubt they would suddenly come around now. Just my opinion, and I guess I'm still yet to find out. 1,150,000 miles and still running strong. Original engine, original turbo/actuator. Anyways I'm done ranting, happy I fixed it. Thanks for the help, Rawze keep doing what your doing! I learned alot form your page and videos. | |||

| RE: Isx15 randomly shutting down Do you have inline adapter? Maybe somebody can point you at what ends of internet you can find programs needed to pull the programming. You can learn during the process too. Maybe somebody can even help you guide remotely how to pull the programming and then have it looked over. You can hop on mumble and see yourself the review too. Since it was done 6 years ago there may be some things that have changed and improved. | |||

I DO WANT EVERYONE WHO COMES ON HERE NEEDING HELP, WHO HAS CUSTOM PROGRAMMING IN THEIR ECM, GET IT CHECKED OUT AS A FIRST STEP TOWARDS SOLVING JUST ABOUT ANY ENGINE RELATED ISSUES!!! ... BECAUSE IT IS VERY, VERY, VERY RELEVANT!!!!.... THE AVERAGE THAT I SEE ON HERE EVERY YEAR IS ROUGHLY ONLY ABOUT 1/1000+ PROGRAMS A YEAR THAT I REVIEW YEARLY ON HERE ARE NOT ACTUALLY HARMFUL/BAD!. - IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY AND, YOU BEING IN DENIAL OR NOT, YOUR ENGINE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THESE ODDS!. I.E.,> YOUR REPLY THERE SHOWS THAT YOU ARE TOTALLY MISSING THE ENTIRE POINT ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything that I said about having your programming checked out still stands!. AND ... BTW, I ACTUALLY did not blame your de-mandate directly for the issues that you have/had !!!!! I said that custom programming is notorious being harmful ... and is often also set to hide faults that may be relevant to your issues (chances are very high in fact), making it far more difficult for someone to find their issues. And YES... It is also a complete fact that more than 90+% of all de-mandate programming is actually harmful to the engine over time, some worse than others, and that alone warrants it always needing to be checked/verified right away!!!. To which you seem to have some kind of serious denial sauce in your head about !!!!!!. IT ALSO DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ACTUALLY ARE THAT 1/1000 LUCKY GUY CUSTOM TUNING LOTTERY WINNER THAT YOU SEEM TO HAVE CONVINCED YOURSELF OF THERE ... AND MIGHT ACTUALLY NOT HAVE HARMFUL PROGRAMMING.. --- HOWEVER, IT STILL NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OUT PROPERLY!.. SO THAT THIS CAN ACTUALLY BE VERIFIED WITHOUT QUESTION, AND YOU CAN MOVE ON TO OTHER THINGS!. I.E.> IT IS CALLED PIECE OF MIND... YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOME TIME!!!> There will be about 5,000+ people on the forum here today that will read your reply,.. appreciate your telling of what was wrong.. ... ... but then slap their foreheads when they get to the part where you completely loose it with that foolish short sightedness that followed. LIKE I SAID... IF THE PROGRAMMING IS, OR IS NOT HARMFUL TO THE ENGINE, ESPECIALLY OVER TIME,... THEN YOU STILL NEED TO HAVE THAT VERIFIED!!!... IMMEDIATE ISSUES SOLVED OR NOT!!!> SO yes,.. Custom programing of any type ... If something was missed, or blocked from showing up, etc.. HAVING IT CHECKED AS A FIRST STEP has a lot of merit towards what someone's, including yours, immediate issues are/were .. And just as much so, to ensure it is not eating the engine up slowly over time, During, and after you solve any problem(s) you had!!!. IT STILL NEEDS TO BE CHECKED TO ENSURE SOME FOOL IN THE PAST DID NOT HIDE ANY RELEVANT FUEL OR OTHER RELATED FAULTS THAT WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE SHOWN UP!!!. IT STILL NEEDS TO BE CHECKED TO ENSURE THERE IS NOT ANY SERIOUS UPDATES NEEDED TO BE ADDED TO THE BASE ENGINE PROGRAMMING FROM THE ENGINE MAKER, OR FOR THE DE-MANDATE SETTINGS, THAT COULD SOLVE CURRENT OR KNOWN GHOST OR HARMFUL ISSUES ETC. IF IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 2+ YEARS AGO SINCE IT WAS TOUCHED!!. === how is that saying go?... You can lead the horse to water... But if they have not had that blown head gasket yet ... They would not believe you, because they are too damn short sighted to see the reality of the situation?. Woooowww!!!... I wish so bad that I had that kind of pre-cognition that I had won the (custom tuning) lottery even though I never scratched off the ticket ...> That is some special kind of religious gift you must have there!!!!!. If i had that gift, I would be rich by now.. As I could just go and predict all the 1/1000 odds or exact moment that the next 1/1000 winner be at all the casino's!. Someone has to be a complete fool otherwise, if they think for one damn moment that they are the luckiest guy in the universe, and are the one damn fool who can just willy-nilly assume they are the 1/1000 winner like 80% of everyone else that comes on here when they first arrive. The olive branch was extended to help you get that thing right... All of it right, ... Especially the programming, which can be as harmful as putting sand in your oil ... Weather it was your immediate issue(s) or not... But you are instead choosing to be the fool and sticking your head into the sand and hoping that the wolf does not eat you (like an ostrich would) over it instead!. THE NEXT STEP (it should have been your first step actually) is to copying that program from your ecm and sending it to me for a proper review of what someone did in there, ... Just for the piece of mind of it all if nothing else, ... Or continue to gamble with a $40,000 commercial engine for no damn reason whatsoever at this point, and continue to be the biggest fool in denial on the forum here for the year! ... Its your choice.!>.. User's Signature: ->: What I post is just my own thoughts and Opinions! --- I AM Full Of S__T!.

If no one have replaced the guts of that fuel pump in the last 400k miles (or 8,000 hours) ... then it is due/over-due to be done again if the engine has 1+ million on it now. It does not matter what kind of updated parts they did to its internals, .. the guts need replacing every 400k miles to prevent total a engine destruction that happens with zero warning. - It is well known around here,.. and no,.. the red engine maker has never solved this issue with them, not even on the newest models, or with their newest parts re-designs. The guts on yours should have been replaced at some point in its past from the ceramic (original) plungers and gits with updated titanium plungers .. I am guessing that is what you are referring to. Even so, the newer/newest titanium plungers being used are NOT a solution to the problem, but only a band-aide. Even on the newest engines, pump failure followed by an engine failure is still a big problem that seems to have never really been solved. - Keeping the problem at bay (guts replacements at 8,000 hour intervals) before it happens is the key. The only thing that has changed, once the pump is updated, is that it now typically takes about 1-2 weeks for the fuel pump to destroy the entire engine .. instead of the only 1-3 days it took with the old ceramic plungers from years back. I.E.> - Your posts show that Its time to replace it guts again at this point. It also make me wonder what other things on that truck are far past over-due that you are just learning about for the first time here. (one example)... Were the rod/main bearings all replaced at the 800k mile mark?. -- If not, then at 1.1 million, it is a ticking time bomb any ways. It just a matter of time where a piston is going to go thru the side of the engine block with zero warning at this point if this was not done at that mileage/hours. - The N14's had this issue (although it was every 600k miles on them) ,.. the CM570's have always had this issue,.. and the newest ISX engines still have this issue. (another example)... When is the last time the power steering filter was replaced?., - Another neglected component by most truck owners, due to the fact they have no clue there is a filter in the bottom of the resiviour,.. then complaining that the power steering pump or gearbox went out. just a few examples thrown in there, I am sure there are many more. | RE: Isx15 randomly shutting down Oh well reminds me of guys around here with their mid stop liner engines that are closely related to ISX. Instead of owners trying to think why they have countless number of failures again and again they just start shouting and arguing, zero actual arguments from their part. Lots of guys are "fixing liner seals" issue (external coolant leak from head gasket(s) on exhaust side) using some mounting paste and new liner o rings. Those repairs do not last long, guys keep saying that blocks are warped, that is why their repairs are not lasting. When you ask about liner protrusion they repeat their warped and bad block nonsense crap. I have one engine with me for investigation that has failed less than 600 miles after liner seals changing. Head bolts are old with no punch marks (repair manual on those allows to reuse head bolts along with rod and main bolts for 3x times after the initial use, punch marking when reusing). This engine under investigation is made in 2007... I even asked dealerships of that engine/truck manufacturer that I would like to bring you engine block with liners for cutting liner seats, since repair manuals mentions tools and things how engines should be repaired and dealer should be able to set the liner heights. They refused, only way they are going to do the job if complete running truck is brought to them. It makes no sense to me, I would instead just tell that we will agree on machining specs and that is it, will measure on site and after that no warranty or any liability besides the fact that machining job was done correctly. They could charge 100-200 per cylinder to cut those counterbores. Should not take that much time? But instead the dealer is telling me too that blocks could be warped and then must buy new block...
