RE: CM871 Engine cycle... Hello everyone. What does everyone think of cm871 (double over head cam) vs cm22xx single overhead cam common rail system? Are fuel injectors, fuel pumps cheaper on 871 vs 22xx? Reliability, ease of maintenance, etc? What are everyones thoughts?

Personally, I won't consider anything newer than a 871 as long as parts are still available.

RE: CM871 Engine cycle... yeah. When you're buying a used cummins truck what are the first things to look for to make sure what your buying can get you by for a while and is in decent shape? Ive heard fuel pumps need work. Do the 871 suffer from the same fuel pump disasters that the 22xx do?

RE: CM871 Engine cycle... The CM871 is the best variation that has been made of the ISX so far. - Only problem is that they will not be able to operate in the communist state of California after a couple more years if the demmocraps get their way. RE: CM871 Engine cycle... I don't even know if I want to drive in CA anymore bc fuel is $6/gal and lots of rules. But who knows. Ok so the general consensus is 871 best. 22xx fine as long as you fix fuel filter every 400k?
