2006 Volvo 670
I just purchased at a Volvo 670 with cummins isx it has a auto shift transmission. I’ve heard all bad about the tranny and Volvo. It was a good price that’s why I bought it. He replaced or rebuilt motor end tranny and turbo. Truck has 1.12 rebuild was done last year. What are some things I need to look out for that are notorious for failure on this truck motor and trans...any help will be highly appreciated

My 04 has just broke 1.3mil and in that time it was mostly all the accessories and typical maintenance items. Check and replace your cab shocks and bushings because if you haven't noticed already the cab will sway literally like a sail in the wind.

One thing on Volvo that is cheap and very easy to change but often overlooked is the rear suspension spring pads. They are made of plastic and live above the front end of the spring in the front mount. Below the spring will be a round roller also made of plastic.

Changing them is easy. Remove the round roller then jack up the opposite corner of the rear end (if you're changing the LF jack up the RR). This will make the spring you are working on drop in the channel, get a screwdriver to pop the old pad out and slip the new pad in, drop the jack and reinstall the roller. All four should take about an hour with hand tools if things aren't too rusty. The last time I did mine I think I paid about $20 Cdn each for the pads.
This is what mine look like. Different years or suspension may look different.

#2 is the wear pad, #3 is where the roller will go if you have them.

Slipper pads was mentioned. I had a vibration growl in my tranny and volvo replaced the tranny. Same noise! Ended up being a 40 dollar set of slipper pads causing he driveline angles to be off.

Let me guess, Volvo in Edmonton?

When I bought my 2011 my 2007 went in the shop for the required "what's wrong with it so we can rape this guy on his trade in" inspection. I can't remember exactly but the estimate came back at about $4000 needed to get it "up to resale" standard. When all was said and done it cost me about $300 as a bunch of it was warranty, and the rest was the trainee orangutan didn't know what he was doing.
