Have the 'gear-down protection' (company driver idiot mode) switched off. It can be done in Insite.

It is a separate program. But usually sold with the adapter on ebay and other sites. They're chinese knock offs and chinese pirated software but will do the job. Either be computer savvy or have someone that is, handy and be prepared for a little poor English with a asian accent. Look for Inline 5 with Cummins Insite 7.6.2 with sp5 (service package 5)

RE: rpm
Its all a bit overwhelming at 1st. But just like when you were a kid and knew nothing, you had to take time to learn 1st. Then you got good with it. Never the other way around. And it always took time. Nothing has changed with that.
You just have to learn it 1st, step by step. And ask a lot of questions. Then it'll be easier after that. Take the time and we all can promise you it will pay off even more than it did "back in the day".
And as far as the wrenching on it part. That didn't change either. Lefty loosey Righty tighty, simple machine and mechanical advantage stacked on simple machine and mechanical advantage. There is just more of it.
