06 CM870 450 ISX New to the forum have gained much info from forum and videos on isx engines. My family farms and we recently purchased a 9400i international with 06 cm 870. This rig has 510,000 miles on it. I have been around cummins engines on the ag side but mainly the 8.3 and 5.9 and some older 855 big cams. I watched the video on erg tuneup for an 871 and thought i should do this to this 870 since i don't know the history of the truck. I plan on removing the intake pipes like on the video and cleaning them,my questions are which sensors should be cleaned and or replaced. I removed the intake temp and pressure sensors and there was soot on them as expected. I cleaned them. I could not find the delta psi sensor like in the video on the 871 is this in different location on 870? After harvest is complete i plan on pulling truck in shop and doing all these procedures. No check engine light that i am aware of and all sensors seem to be original. My brother does not think it has the power it is supposed to have for the grain trailer he is pulling and i seen the video and decided this should be done anyway and might help. Thank you for posting such great info on these engines.

RE: 06 CM870 450 ISX On the Cm870 you have what they call an EGR differential pressure sensor which is behind the IFSM with two small tubes going to it. Don't forget about the Exhaust Pressure Sensor which has a tube coming from #1 in the Exhaust manifold that bolts into or next to the thermostat housing.

RE: 06 CM870 450 ISX Pulling the EGR valve off and giving it a good cleaning and look over is good too. While you have that off, its a good time to pressure test your coolant system up to 20 psi over night and look in the EGR cooler in the morning to see if it leaked internally.

RE: 06 CM870 450 ISX Thank you for the replies, what does IFSM stand for and is it located on intake side? Also with 510,000 miles and all sensors in question original which should be cleaned or replaced? Thanks for the help.

Also with 510,000 miles and all sensors in question original which should be cleaned or replaced? Thanks for the help. IFSM is Integrated fuel service module, and it is located on intake side. All your sensors should be replaced. It would be a very good idea to sign up on quickserve.cummins.com, and learn about component location's on your motor, and much more.
