Let go on a flatstretch of road at about 50mph. Not sure exactly what happened yet. 34k miles. Stone stock. I'm seeing this becoming a common issue with the X15 engine. this is probably the 5th X15 ive seen on the net with the same thing happening with about the same miles. RE: Cummins X15, what's the word? Got my Pete log truck with X15 back in September. The Jake is awesome, unbelievable stopping power compared to my 870. Mine is the 565 hp 1850 torque. I think it has about 15,000 mi. On it now. So far so good, if I can get 6 years out of it I won't complain one bit.

We have had several issues so far and its usually the third stage on jake? I only get to drive it once in awhile so it hasn't happened to me but driver has been complaining .... its been to Peterbilt ..for two weeks in middle of summer ....they replaced there most favorite part ..the turbo ....and its happening again, probably in the 40,000 mile range.

RE: Cummins X15, what's the word? to be honest its the electronics and uncontinously oiled/greased bearings that seem to cause the most issues due to heat. i know of no electronic that enjoys heat so then they try to cool it with the engines cooling system...so ok now that part is constantly 200-230degrees or more and then add vibrations ontop of all this from the road and engine its just a combination for failure and if you try to overengineer then for the part to work in its most efficient manner it becomes impractical or down right way to expensive to be used. sometimes i almost wonder if all the parts cooled by coolant were tied into their own seperate system with something more like a pickup transcooler, electric or belt driven pump and electric fan they might lead better lives. but then again now you add more complexity and parts to the vehicle and more points of failure
