That steel air line goes to a block on the top RH corner of the radiator, then over to the drivers side and hooks into that box that’s bolted to the engine block

Does that look right?

Ya, that's the older high mount control valve. If you take your engine serial off the valve cover and register it for free @ https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html
You can read all about that particular system and how it operates and how to check proper operation.

What year engine do you have?

It's a 2003 CM870.

That procedure doesn't look correct, I must be doing something wrong on how I'm looking it up. It shows me the same actuator that I have, but not the "high mount" electric controller

Both of those are wrong.

You have an air actuated high mount vg turbo setup.

It's under intake system... Air actuated. You have to ignore the electrical one and the wastegated ones. I don't know why they list other setups under a specific ESN but you kind of have to wade thru everything and find specifically what your dealing with.

Thank you, sir

I’ll have to rig up an airline with a pressure regulator

I have a dumb question. Bear with me I’m on the road and am not gonna start taking things apart until I’m at the shop again.

I was able to grab the fitting from Cummins in the USA, but it’s a male/male fitting. I picked up a female compucheck fitting while I was there, too.

So...do I unscrew the fitting from the actuator...install this fitting to perform the stroke test? I went back and reread the instructions from Cummins on how to perform the test, but it’s not clear

Then the next question, how do I pressure test the line between the actuator and the actuator controller?

Cummins Insite has a on/off test to check all the plumbing from the control module to the actuator.

Well unless I’m missing something.... the part Cummins calls for doesn’t screw into the turbo actuator....

The stainless shield is bent. Also the clip holding the actuator shaft to the turbo shaft has a pretty significant groove ground in it.

That’s odd. I wonder if that stainless piece being bent caused the actuator shaft to pinch and grind on that clip?

Hmm...

The bushing looks ok, from what I can see anyway
