RE: Cm2350
Did you have a helper when you had the valve cover off last time?

What all do you have to remove to get the valve cover of a W900? Just thinking if your truck has dual breathers it would have a large duct from drivers side breather to hook up with air intake on passenger side. Say maybe this bolt was in the duct and feel into the engine while you had the valve cover off?

Just a guessing game as to where it came from.

RE: Cm2350
No helper just me yes has duel breathers
To remove the cover just have to remove the duck pipe from the breathers to give you room and remove the egr crossover tube then just remove the bolts to the valve cover very easy to get to no loose parts in the oil pan that were stuck to the plug just the normal stuff that’s stuck to a plug guess I’ll wait and see what my oil sample says when it comes back this time

RE: Cm2350
if its not from the bracing on air filter ductwork then ied say its been there since day one and was possibly done by dealer or assembly plant.

That’s what I’m being told as well just sucks that it ruined the cam but at the same point it’s better than taking out the whole motor

RE: Cm2350
Yup Cummins doesn’t care how the engine goes out they just hope it makes it out of the warranty period. Wish I knew how to add pics. My head is getting replaced Monday from a casting defect that they should have obviously seen while putting it together but shipped it out anyway. Hated buying the extended warranty but glad I did after this discovery. Took some arguing and stood my ground but they are replacing it.
