| Kw with a cat 3126 Will be looking at a Kw with a cat 3126 in it, was supposedly rebuilt not too long ago, are there any pointers on this engine I should be looking for as to health of the engine? What software is used to interface with a cat? Thanks! | |||

| RE: Kw with a cat 3126 Those were decent engines. The weak point is the huei fuel pump, they don't like dirty oil. Change the oil every 175-200 hours or those pumps grenade and take out all the injectors. Also injectors are a crap shoot, they've been reman'ed to death so if you buy 6 you might get 4 good ones. Cat ET is the software, it's easy to find. Those are not a wet sleeve engine, they really aren't rebuildable. I've heard they can be bored and then new sleeves pressed in and bored again to spec but I don't think that's a cat recommended procedure, and quite a process to boot. Makes me wonder what they mean by "rebuilt "They were basically throw away engines, 500k - 800k mi. And throw them away. | |||
