Cummins Isl no power to vgt

Cummins ISL CM2150 CPL424 no ecm code on quickserve, ECM failed no communication sent to a service center to validate failure. Did not have image of old ECM Got new ECM and was flashed with features and parameters installed. Put on engine and now do not have power 12 volt to VGT have verified that wiring is good back probed at pin 40 and pin 33 (pins for vgt) no voltage. Service center thought ecm replacement was bad sent another and just cloned first one still same result getting codes 2636, 0687, 1844 . Engine runs now but no VGT have verified voltage to both input pins on 4 wire plug and key voltage. Anybody ever have this issue? thanks

Have you load tested that 12v wire from ECM to VGT ? Sounds like a break in that wire somewhere. A continuity test won't always catch it. Put a small incandescent (not L.E.D) light bulb on the circuit to load test it.

Have went down to ecm no power out of pin 40 which is 12 volt to 33 which is ground but thanks

Where are you getting these ECM's from ? Are they genuine cummins right from a cummins dealer?

What is the ESN for this engine?

The ESN 46816193 I was told the first one was genuine cummins but the second one says continental on it. This is on a friends engine he said no problems before the original ecm failed (no amber or red light on dash) so that is the only history I have. I did not know if programming could or could not control driver for vgt. Thanks for the assistance.

What program did they flash in?

according to the fault codes you posted you have .......

1. low signal voltage to the crankcase pressure sensor (pin 50)

2. low turbo speed detected by the ECM (pin 21 & 31)

3. no power to the VGT actuator (technically no communication but you said you verified no power)

These can all be traced back to the ECM either being bad or the possibility that you have the wrong program flashed into that ECM. If the resource location for the 12V to the actuator is different in the program your using from what the correct program calls for then yea it could be in the program.

what is the VIN# for the vehicle?

What is the voltage going to the ecm and vehicle?.. 12volts or 24volts?.
