Got the head off of the this x15 that lasted 1,000 miles. Cleaned deck and checked liner height everything is still consistent no low liners it’s almost exactly where i set it when i cut the block there is nothing that sticks out to me that screams a problem with the way the engine was put together, here are some pictures of the head gasket blew on the driver side corner on #6 in fact it blew so bad they it had a external coolant leak. And as you can see in the other picture it started to blow on #4 as well it also does not show any signs of liner being low. My conclusion is the hack that tuned this ECM as stated had so much timing in it I couldn’t imagine what kind of cylinder pressure and drive pressure this thing saw. Please comment your thoughts!!

The Head gasket clearly shows that the liner was dancing in the block. You can see that the The fire ring is crushed and split exactly where it was happening.

What was the liner height set to?.
Were the head bolts under-torqued?.

That means that the underside of the cylinder head is also ruined at this point too.

(more speculation and concern. the Christmas beer is talkin')...
The liner dancing also looks like it is in the direction of the coolant/oil seal.
It makes someone ponder ... Is that an OEM head gasket?. Was that back corner cleaned thoroughly enough?. Was the top of the deck precision-checked for flatness or warpage?... especially in that area? etc.etc.


.. also, why is there so much rust running around in the coolant system to be deposited onto the gasket like that?. Was it apart for a long while?.. or did the block it get rained on?.

Block was cut and set liners to .014 own Cummins brass shims, this was an aftermarket head gasket

Never, ever use after-garbage components in an ISX. Someone will always regret it at some point.
