EGR Issues 870

Hey guys, had the egr valve replaced on my 07 ISX about 4 months ago and the check engine came back on yesterday and computer is saying “EGR out of calibration”. Mechanic is telling me that there is no way to calibrate them and that it most likely failed and to try and warranty is out through Raney’s. Before doing so I just wanted to check and see if it could be anything else. Truck is running really rough. Thank you!!

It's junk. Buy the next one from the cummins dealer and you'll likely get atleast a year out of it. They are failure prone.

Unplug egr temp sensor on egr pipe on drivers side with key off, this should disable valve for a while to get you home, or see if if runs better anyway, this will come with check light but dont worry about it. Worth a try

Following up on my previous post about my never ending EGR issues, so far I’ve replaced the EGR valve with a new Cummins one after the aftermarket egr failed after 4 months along with replacing the differential pressure sensor. Now check engine light is off and truck appears to be running better but when I’m pulling any amount of load it blows black smoke worse than I’ve ever seen! I can unplug the EGR and check engine light comes back on but black smoke goes away almost entirely. Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated because I haven’t had any luck getting anyone locally to pinpoint my issue. 2007 Cummins ISX Thanks!!

seems your new egr valve is stuck open,time to pull it off and cheek it out maybe something else is making her soot up

If you go to Quickserve.cummins.com, and look under sympton search, you will find a number of things that could be the cause of your problem.
