Slop when I let off the pedal
So in noticing a slop when I let off the pedal while driving and it’s noticeable when I’m hooked up to a trailer but worse when bobtail. What do I need to do check ?

2003 international 9900i with an ISX,13 speed,3.90 rears. I’m guessing the slop is in the drivetrain somewhere and it’s especially noticeable in first gear when I let off the pedal to the point where I get pulled forward from my chair.

RE: Slop when I let off the pedal
I had a front differential that had a lot of slop in it. People said it was normal but I replaced it with one from another remanufacturer. I’m not knowledgeable in taking those apart and making adjustments.

I have had motor mounts cause that but realistically you should check your entire drive line motor mounts u-joints differentials hell even suspension bushings could cause slop. I have even seen bolts all but 3 of the bolts rattle out of the transmission bell housing that that made a truck drive like what could be called slop... really online not being able to see it its anyone's guess

RE: Slop when I let off the pedal
Looks like the slop was a bad carrier bearing.

thanks for the follow up.

Hopefully it was installed right, as many shops will attempt to try and make the drive-line as straight as possible at the carrier bearing, and this is actually wrong. there should be about a 2-degree or so offset in the drive-line, shifting the carrier bearing a bit to the passenger side, otherwise it will end up with harmonics in it at certain rpm's, causing ghost vibrations and wearing the new one out faster.

I.E>. it should not be installed so that the drive-line is perfectly straight there.
