What's this on oil pan magnet? From a 2250? I thought it was a screw extractor at first glance. But now I don't know.

RE: What's this on oil pan magnet? That thing looks more like a pin-guided counter-sink bit used for recessing small screw heads than an engine part. Just speculation,.. but seriously, I would perhaps e-mail cummins corporate with the picture and serial number of your engine and see if they know what it is if you can't figure it out. It was a fleet truck, he doesn't know much on its history other than it was supposed to have been rebuilt. Probably just liners and pistons. Speedco found this at the first oil change and he posted to Facebook to see if anyone knew what it was. Most seem to think it's an injector tip, but I'm certain it's not. But I don't know what it actually is.

RE: What's this on oil pan magnet? I tell ya man. I've completely lost any and all faith in Peterbilt dealerships. It's unacceptable to be dropping parts in an engine. To be dropping parts in your engine, from a completely different engine? I don't know what that is. This was also a Peterbilt. Can you believe the head gasket lasted nearly a year on this one? Think the Pete covered it?
