Thumbs Down CM2350 Reprogram help
I’m having problems (I would think) with my 2016 389/cummins 2350 set at 500 (deleted)
13sp, 3.36s and 24.5 tall rubber.
Pulling VAN always 70k-77k

Sometimes I get a 25% de rate in 3 hours message.. goes away within seconds.
Also my mpg seems to be closer to 4 than it is to 5!!!
It used to do way better then I think gradually began doing worse? I didn’t notice because I’ve been running the crap out of it 75+ careless of fuel economy on a run I had where time was more important.

Now I can’t seem to get over 5.5 not even at 65mph? I used to get 6+ at 65mph
If I run 70 I’ll be low or under 5s
I’m mechanically inclined, had a leaky CAC, replaced that. No leaks anywhere, no mechanical issues as far as I can tell.

On the pics the computer does a little “better” than manual calculation by about .2mpg

Truck will idle funny in very cold weather.. but once it’s up to 185f or so it works fine. No smoke, boosts close to 40 if I lean hard on it.

Seems I try to run around 10-12psi and it starts slowing down to maybe 50mph?
Pulls like a freight train.. plenty of power in mountains.. just poor “speed maintaining”? Idk if I’m coming across.

Probably does the same mpg across 64 and 77 in WV than I do in flat lands of OH IN and IL.

I have a diagnostic laptop and Calterm but idk how to use it. Could probably be checked or reprogrammed remotely? Any help is appreciated. I’m happy to pay for services.

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
Bad deletes are an absolute plague in the trucking industry... preying on truck owners like pick-pockets stealing wallets in a subway station.

Since more than 90% of all de-mandate programming is absolutely harmful to the engine.. that is the place to start.

Copy the program from the ecm and e-mail it to me for a proper review of what someone did in there, good, bad, and possibly downright harmful.

info for copying program out of ecm...

next would be to take a close look at whatever hardware changes were made. If they are not done 100% correctly, that can contribute towards a lot of issues too including efficiency and/or power losses, and even engine damage.

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
I had that derate message problem one time. I reflashed the ECM with the exact same program and it stopped. Looking back i wonder if it was because I used the "save and restore" function in c a l t e r m ??

This won't fix your issues but just wanted to mention it.

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
I’ve tried to follow the steps to pull the file from the ECM but I have Calterm V5 and for some reason it’s not even detecting an ECM now. I have a USB link 2, tried wired AND Bluetooth and that doesn’t seem to help.

Do I need Calterm v3? Can it be done with v5?

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
you need right meta-file for your ecu to copy the file ,do you have one 2350 is probably BDR,program itself is useless without this file

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
ASWAYS use wired mode when reading or writing to an ecm, Simple things like a microwave can interrupt the wireless signal....dont even ask how I know, it wasnt a good thing,
PM me we will get together with TV and see if we can get it working again and pull a copy out

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
Hey, I dm you, I’m not very knowledgeable about the Cummins, always been around CAT and Detroit.
I’m running this truck all over the country right now and I carry the laptop with me so whenever you have a minute lmk.

Rn I’m about 77k gross, had a side wind for a few hundred miles.. 4.8mpg at 60mph on 12th gear at 1300rpm if I went to 13th it’d be lower And RAWZE mentioned somewhere bad programming and oil temperature could be correlated?

We’ll always on the red when pulling hills or it’s windy. I actually have the oil cooler waiting for me at home to swap it. But it probably isn’t even the issue.

RE: CM2350 Reprogram help
Low rpm is a big killer of these engines too, you want to be in the 1500-2000rpm range generally cruising and pulling. Even the OEM tunes have put the oil temps to the moon. I've ran a 565 1850 in my Volvo and never seen oil temps above 240 giving her hell fast and slow, i have 3.36s on low pro 22.5's. Get the tuning corrected and I'll bet your oil temps will come down.

Any chance of bringing this truck to you? I’ve tried dming you and @rollingcoal but no luck.

I’m OTR, wouldn’t have a problem visiting anyone or any shop if I schedule it..

Rn there’s a bit of headwind but I have 4k lbs (not 40k) in the box at 65 mph at 1200rpm and struggling to get more than 5mpg average, I reset the trip when I loaded..
oil temp at 240-245 at times on flats… I39 just passed normal il heading to Wisconsin.

My cell is {} if anyone could help… thanks.

Also I went through my diagnostic laptop and found directions on how to use calterm.. by guess who? The man himself… So you do know your
