Need Urgent Help
Hello forum, i need your urgent help. My mom inherited a 26ft freightliner 2012 with cummins engine isb 6.7 GM 2250 expedite truck. Recently, the dpf light was flashing frequently and a parked regeneration was done, sometimes once a day. Well, three weeks ago, the check engine light and the dpf lamp appeared on the dash board. Since the vehicle was in use, a parked regeneration was done however, the dpf light kept on flashing. DEF tank was full by the way. Before i could make it back to the mechanic, 'the stop engine light' came on as well. The vehicle was diagnosed by the mechanic and i was asked to replace the turbo. Also, the 2 dpf filters were taken off and sent to a specialist to be cleaned. The intake sensor (Nox sensor) was also changed and the DEF sensor was also replaced. After all this, the the stop engine light is still on and the dpf lamp is on as well. I have read extensively and researched using the tools available on this site however, i can't seem to find out what might be the issue. The mechanic is as frustrated as i am. The EGR seems to be working fine and there are currently no fault codes being displayed by the cummins incite diagnostic. I appreciate any any assistance i can get.

PS. I welcome any recommendations for cummins mechanic shop located in Maryland.

I don't own one of these SCR/DEF trucks, but I try to keep up... Check the SCR can for leaks or cracks. May need to be removed and power washed out.

Did the mechanic run a restriction test ( using Cummins insight) on the DPF filter after it was cleaned? This should be done. If it fails then replace the DPF filter. Freightliner in Baltimore has re-manned filters. I just had the same situation on my 2350. short of me buying a new turbo I was able to fix it myself. It turned out to be a bad filter even though it was cleaned. I did read that if you have a 2250, and it fails a restriction test, then the filter must be replaced. The reedman filter that I bought from Freightliner in Baltimore was $900 - turning in the core. Another thought could be that the DPF differential sensor has gone bad also

First advice -- Get it away from a mechanic that does not work on cummins engines, and is quick to replace expensive parts while "guessing" as to what is wrong!. This is also what the stealerships do as well (they are mostly bad too). You will waste a LOT of money that way guessing and replacing expensive parts unnecessarily.

If they did not do a flow/restriction test, and/or reset the after-treatment system properly in the ECM,... nothing you do will make the engine happy and you will just keep guessing in the dark, wasting money.

I would consider taking them to small claims court, and I don't say that frivolously.
So many people have been taken to the cleaners by these hacks, the only way to straighten them out is hurt them in the wallet the same way they've done you.

Why should you pay $165+ /hr and not fix the problem?
Their way of doing business has to end.

Turbocharger, really?
Absolutely disgusting.
