Trouble connecting computer to engine

Insite connects first shot when engine isn't running but nothing works when I turn the engine on? Even when I exit insite and start it all again. Power to the adaptor but J1708 wont flash when engine is running.

Any idea fellas?

"wont flash when engine is running." You are going to have to explain what that means...flashing LED or flash/upload file to truck computer. Probably best to go to an experienced mechanic shop from a guy on this forum and he has 2nd set of laptop & adapter to isolate the problem quickly and show you some new tricks!

I know we all would rather do it ourselves, but time is $
