the stems seals are easily seen without removing anything but the rocker cover. get a flashlight and see if they are still old style and stuck on the guides or ridden up near the valve stem retainer.

15 min to verify.

The "old style" are atypical v/g seals that attach/retained to the top of the valve guide.

The "new style" are a full length "captured" style that fully envelope the valve guide and are retained by the spring against the bottom of the spring seat pocket in the head.
