I forgot about this post. Life gets in the way.

When I get a chance I will update this with some pictures. I ended up overhauling the engine. Have about 40k or so on it now and it has been hassle free. Did all the work myself, minus the counterbore.

I did learn a lot about these engines. Also learned that Cummins technicians aren’t that bright. Then you learn that if you call 800cummins they have different level of technicians.

I also went from a 450hp to a 500 hp Cpl. Took almost 2 weeks to get any kind of info from Cummins.

I hear you on the $40 large, I have two under my belt, me and Rawze did the second one at his house, the man saved my bacon! Never trust a dealership, not for motor work. I will not bore you with the details.

Oh, you did go through the fuel pump too, correct? As that would really suck to have that cut loose on you.

Waterloo, just post the link of your engine rebuild posts and also the one you had started before that when you were outside in your driveway replacing your air compressor and such. It's always good to rehash the nonsense that goes on in this industry. Yours was just a little extra ordinary

Did my air compressor glad I live in the country probly looked like a monkey ****ing a football searching for timing marks and trying to get the thing in without moving the gear and then putting bolts back in.

Easy way to see those timing marks If you don't have a cheap borescope is just a small mirror and a flashlight
