The N14 head gaskets have heavy rubber grommets at each cooling passage. You would clearly see if one of them had failed. If the knife edges and protrustions on both liners are ok then I would replace the head.

I'm not sure what the correct term is for the knife edge because I can't see anything about them on Quickserve (even though they are very important to head gasket life). They are the thin ring around the top of each liner. They press a groove into the gasket once you torque the head and can fret away over time.
