CM870 EGR replacement
[attachment=1525] Well it has been determined that I need a new EGR valve. So this afternoon I took the old one off and i'm in the process of trying to figure out 1. which tubes are the ones going to the delta pressure sensor? 2. where is the intake manifold temp sensor? 3. Is this picture the exhaust back pressure sensor pipe?(somehow the picture got turned sideways?) if it is does anyone have any idea's how to get the fitting out of the exhaust manifold? Looks like someone tried to get it out before because it's kinda boogered up. I wasn't able to get it loose and I'm pretty sure it's gonna end up rounded off if I keep trying. Should I cut the pipe and try to get it out with a socket then just buy a new pipe from cummins ? maybe heat the manifold with a torch?

RE: CM870 EGR replacement
Heat it, then spray it with oil, try to turn it, repeat till it comes out. worked like a charm on mine...also that is the back pressure tube...

RE: CM870 EGR replacement
If the fitting does round out, get a larger nut with that diameter and have someone mig weld it to the old fitting. Of course you're going to need to cut the tube. Should probably replace them anyway.

Heat, soak, repeat. 50 / 50 Mix of Automatic transmission fluid and acetone works great.

Thanks for the help. Is the differential pressure sensor also called the delta p sensor?

YES (while I was slowly formulating my answer, Rawze beat me to the punch). I finally find a question that I can answer and this happens!

RE: CM870 EGR replacement
Now that I have the valve off is there a way I can test it to make sure it's bad before I drop $900 on a new one ?

yes!

remove mandate (tuning), change intake pressure, intake temp, and exhaust pressure sensor and slap the old egr valve back on. then run down the road smiling and laughing as you just saved 900 bucks, and tons of money on downtime and fuel.:waaaht:
