RE: Dropping the oil pan
Wouldn't they find coolant in the oil if EGR was leaking into intake?

I.ve seen engines with coolant sludge in the top valve train and come back with good oil samples. Although not completely useless, Take oil samples with a grain of salt.

the proper check is to pressurize the coolant system and let is sit for a few hours like suggested.

I'm sure there is a better way to pull a sample, not sure what that'd be though.

You need one of these...

They come with a sample nipple too if you really need one.

Here is the chart to see which one fits your motor, with part numbers.

Amazon sells them, as do most FleetPrides.

You guys seriously need to look at the femco drain ...
They are the cats ass
They have got to be the one of the smartest things I ever did .

RE: Dropping the oil pan
I have a ez-drain on my ISX and just finally put a Fumoto on my other truck. They both work for me wonderfully. The Fumoto is a really solid piece!

RE: Dropping the oil pan
Those Femco drains look nice, if you were servicing in the field or at the house. you can drain and fill from it with the right tools. For Speedco or TA/Petro, I guess it would be ok, is it easy to turn and lock into place without a hose fitting on it? The Fumoto is pretty much fool proof, been running those for years.

RE: Dropping the oil pan
You don't need the hose but you do need the dischange end .
The female end that screws on opens the vavle as it goes on .
You can take the hose off if you needed to .
Yes , they are really easy to use .
