I put my big boy pants on this week

Over 66’ feet long, on a trombone opened to 63’ long. Ontario to Eagle Pass TX.

MissingLink was kind enough to let me talk over a few things. I have another local buddy that I bounced a few things off.

It wasn’t horrible... it’s surprising how fast you get used to being that long.

It was a good growth load for me to expand some experience. What i mean was it wasn’t stupid long or stupid wide, it was a good way to gain some more O/D experience

Oh Come on... This one is 88 feet long on a fully opened 48 stretch. Getting it there wasn't the hard part. It went to Cal State Fresno. Getting it into the swimming pool there was a nightmare.

This is a pool bulkhead. Went from Arlington, WA to Cal State Fresno.

This one is 80 feet long on a regular 48' flat. Brigham City, UT to Down town Edmonton, Alberta Canada

Piece of cake, don't let them scare ya, just remember your tail swing and don't go trying no u-turns in traffic or parking lots.

Do you go through Montetello Nevada like weekly hauling steel. I think I recognize that truck.

I have been doing overlenth for about 16 years mostly bridge and road work. I love it, great pay and it keeps you on your toes. The beams were 75 footers and the pipe were 80s. The pipe went four miles, did 16 loads at 750.00 a load.

I no longer drive that truck. That picture is from 2013, and the other with the stretch trailer is from 2008. However that company is out of Brigham City, UT. All his trucks are painted like that, and I think he still has 5-6 of those 579's. He is going back to 389's.

This is me Now.

RE: I put my big boy pants on this week
I'm done with this crap market anymore, getting to old to do this flat bedding too. Ive driven for 32 years and the last 28 all open deck.

In January I'm going to start taking it REAL easy, and start pulling around band and stage equipment for shows.

Just back up to the dock, watch them unload, then sit till it's time to reload and go to the next venue. Best part is if the tour is 90 days, then I get paid every day for 90 days regardless of what I do. Plus I get three meals a day from craft services every day there's guys at the venues.

So I'll park my trailer at the house. Give it a year, and if I like it then I'll sell the trailer. If not then I'll go back flat bedding.

Touring is different. I did it for 2 weeks with a couple of rock bands. It is nice to get craft service's and use the venue showers. You get back stage access to the events.

But man is it a hussle when it comes to tear down and loading. You become nocturnal because the second that show is done and able to be packed up, you had better have your trailer in position and ready to roll through the night nonstop to be at the next venue ASAP for setup. We had to carry millions in liability insurance because if we didn't show with the equipment for whatever reason, you have to pay for all the seats at the venue.

Not worried one bit. First as far as loading / unloading I'm responsible for strapping and counting ONLY I don't touch nothing but the straps.

Second I already run through the night normally. I park about 2-3 pm then get up at 12-1 am and run when the clowns are snoring. I've been doing this so damn long that I can sleep at anytime of the day or night light or dark quite or noisy. Don't matter. I sleep 5 hours and no more, regardless of the time of day, I automatically wake up 5 hours (usually with in minutes of exactly 5 hours) after I go to bed. Doesn't matter where I'm at either. Even at home I still do the same thing. If I don't have to get up and I go back to sleep then I'm literally waking up every 15 minutes till I get up. If I do that then I'm crap for the rest of the day. If I get up after my 5 hours then I'm gold for however long I need up to about 30 hours, then I hit the wall.

Been doing it like that for 32 years, that's all I know.
