Like the man said pick the truck for the job it will do. Cummins is an option engine in about every heavy truck built. Maybe a reason for that.

As far as the 50% I would tell them where to get off at. You need to put down as little money as possible the rest saved for when you truck breaks down. It will break and it costs money to fix.

Have you checked with your local bank? Commercial loans are different than say a loan for a pickup truck. I would say the reason for the high down payment is the risk of first time truck buyers defaulting on their loan.
