This style turbo wouldnt cause the truck not to start if not working properly right? Truck blew turbo then i cleaned up everything install new turbo, now its just cranking slow

A boost leak would make this noise?

Usually the turbo will be open on an 870 at idle while cold. The only reason for it to close is for EGR and it won't call for EGR till it is up to operating temperature.

if the engine has a bad de-mandate program in it then it may cause the turbo to do things it is not supposed to.
