RE: air compressor leaking coolant
I picked up an OEM Cummins, Haldex USA Remanufactured, Air Compressor at FleetPride a couple of years ago, it has been solid, no issues. I believe back then it was $900 + a $400 core deposit. I know there are other less expensive options, eBay and what not, and some Chinese knock offs, but I have had good luck with this unit, and it was a REAL factory Cummins compressor remanufactured here in the USA by Haldex. I liked what I saw, and as I said, no issues.

I would install the reman vs rebuilding the head unless cash is really really tight. As you will be in there replacing the entire compressor in short order, at least that was my experience at roughly 800,000 miles. Best to just do it all at once, I think that head kit was darn near $500. And do not forget to remove all of the fittings off of the old compressor if you take it with you to avoid the core deposit.

And do it yourself if you can, it was an easy job other than the zero degree weather. You will need to bar the motor, but you should have those tools already if you are here. Other than that, simple hand tools.
