RE: Installing fuel pump cm2250
Ok, I could use a little help with this...
I have an 871, so I have glossed over this fuel pump issue instead of paying detailed attention.
I've got a buddy that just recently bought a used truck with a 2250 with about 200k miles, do all 2250's have the three cylinder pump with ceramic plungers?
How would we determine if he has the ceramic plungers?
If not, how do I help him identify a three vs a two?

We are going to put a bypass filter on when we finish this current run.
We are also planning to do an EGR tune-up as well. He is not currently in a position to assume the financial risk of "doing the greatest longevity thing."
What else do I need to help or tell him to watch for?

Thanks SB, without dismantling to physically inspect the plungers is there any way to know or find out so I can help him prevent the catastrophic failure?

Not sure if there is a way to know, you can just install the plungers instead of replacing the whole pump, and I think there was also a recall from cummins dont know if they still offer it,
He shoukd get it updated asap, we tested my pump few weeks before failing it was very quiet at high pressures so we decided not to mess with it

RE: Installing fuel pump cm2250
Is it better to rebuild it or just put in a new updated pump ?
