2011 cm2250 fuel line howl
I have a 2011 pete with a 2250, new fuel pump 200,000 miles ago, at the fuel filter housing you have a line next to the filter, this is where you can really here the noise, inlet pressure 240 psi out let pressure 210, cummins has a minimum pressure amount but not a maximum. You wind it up to 1500 and it starts the howling, and it goes away when you drop bellow a 1000 rims, it doesn't do it when it's cold, before warm up. You hit the relief value and the noise goes away, you can only hear excessive noise in the line next to the filter, and of course driving down the road, it's a loud howling. Anyone come across this issue before. No codes, and it's demandated, by only the best.

It is a common problem.. Mr. Hag knows more about it .. maybe he will chime in with some details?.

Has something to do with a fuel line on all the common rail engines and one of its retaining brakets. Hard to spot unless you know what your looking for.

Thank you for the fast response, that helps, hope all is going well out your way. Hopefully Mr haggi will let me know where it is, I was leaning towards changing the whole filter housing.

Do you have higher fuel pressure, it's very difficult to track down, you get the howl to come in, then hit the relief valve and noise goes away

I can't track it down to. When pump was replaced and it started howling it was always right after engine start then quit when engine warms up. It was about two months not howling at all. Now it start howling again. Sometime very loud sometime just lillbit. Can go quiet after truck fueling.

One thing forget to mention. When Raze is around it's not howling. Tested.

RE: 2011 cm2250 fuel line howl
I ran across this a few years ago and it in fact was the fuel pump thanks to a Cummins tech down the street he dug up an old TSB that explained it, It was the plunger and spring
in the fuel pump (they no longer sale the repair kit)
I happen to have another truck on the deadline with the same pump so I swapped the plunger assy around and it actually quit the noise.
Ill see if I can find the email he sent with the TSB

I will try swapping the plungers around and see, definitely would like to see the tsb when you find it
