2010 8.3 cummins problems
i have a 2010 t-370 kw-tow truck- with 59000 miles on it. i am having issues with it-sometimes when i let off accelecator it will get a pop back through the breather-or sometimes when i accelerate it will pop through the breather 2-3 times but it wont show any codes-i have forced re-gen/the truck check the turbo-for sticking. but it is smooth-i thought maybe vgt actuator-but i dont know-i hate to start throwing parts at it. its like its getting to much pressure and its coming back-through the breather- any advice would be helpful-thank you

RE: 2010 8.3 cummins problems
Sounds to me like what is known as "turbo-caugh" or "turbo-chuff".

This happens when the pressure is too much at the intake due to over-boosting. The excess pressure surge overcomes the turbo at some point, violently reversing the turbine blade, relieving it backwards thru the air intake. - It is extremely harmful to the turbo and eventually causes its demise.

START by doing a full EGR tune-up on the engine, cleaning out the EGR piping, EGR valve, replacing the EGR sensors and intake IMAP sensor, exhaust back-pressure sensor and checking its circuit that it is not clogged up, etc.

Also Replace the air cleaner, pressure test the intake, CAC, and EGR circuits for boost leaks.. check that the exhaust is not restricted or clogging up (DOC/DPF/SCR cans are not clogging up, face plugged, etc.)

here is another related thread to this issue,...

yeah. the engine will not fail poorly reading sensors, etc. unless they are really in bad shape.

I have seen engines get 2 mpg lower then normal and have serious hesitation at the throttle pedal because of bad IMAP and other sensors and never throw a code one.

i am looking at these sensors on the intake side of the engine the one sensor that looks like is could be the imap sensor on this 8.3 isc cummins-the person at the"cummins parts call center" was calling in air intake sensor-but is the imap and air intake senssor the same-i pretty sure it is. but wanted to make sure before i ordered it.

RE: 2010 8.3 cummins problems
They are the same on the isc. You are looking at the sensor on the intake manifold under the injector lines?
