So after years of dealing with Volvo's and pretending them to be good machine I was so so wrong sadly...

I decided after going back and forth with many trucks and looking to go with a 2015 Internatoinal Prostar back in MAY of this year. It was a Ryder truck (unfortunately?) and It came with all the basic no glory interior and bare bones everything in which honestly I was seeking for the simplicity. It has a 10 speed Eaton tranny in it with horrible 3.36 gearing. As far I I can tell the truck came from out east and the engine abuse history checked out ok along with the emissions checking out ok also hauling light loads. I went ahead with the purchase and immediately swapped the rear ends for 3.90 along with a EGR tune up with fixing and painting up the frame and other things. I popped the engine cover to be surprised with a very very clean top end and set the overhead with minimal adjustments. The truck has been running great with the mandate in place and the one complaint I have so far is the 1800 rpm rev limiter from which I understand will be taken care of when the problem is taken care of for good..

I know any used truck is a gamble and am happy with what is going on so far. I can say these Prostars are FAR!!! easier to work on than those fvckuing Volvos I had before. It is almost like when they designed these trucks they had easibilty on working on these trucks in mind.

On fuel mileage? holy ol' dogshyt does this thing get better fuel mileage than the Volvo! I am seeing a consistent .8 MPG better! I honestly feel like I have wasted too many years with the amount of money if fuel I am saving with this truck compared with the past ones.

I have a 2014 Prostar(sleeper cab) for sale if you need another one. 920,000 miles. Well taken care of

I am glad that you found a better truck, but i have to disagree with your somewhat unfair take on Volvo trucks. I had many trucks and three of them were Volvo's. (Detroits and Cummins engines) i found your older post with a spec for your Volvo.- "3:55 gears matted to a 13speed with 295/75 /22.5 tires". I have currently, Volvo 670, with an identical spec, but on 22.5's all around. I have been getting an average of 7.6 mpg consistently over last 4 years. I pull Conestoga flat, and my loads are neither very heavy nor very light. I initially was getting low 8's, but that somewhat disappeared with the milage increase. One should keep in mind, i believe, that there are hundreds of potential problems on the truck that could have a negative impact on the fuel milage that have nothing to do with the brand.
By any stretch of imagination, i am not saying that Volvo's are superior to other iron, but at the same token, they are not bad trucks if built right for medium duty applications - up to 80000 lb. freight. It is possible that the fault is with the operator, and I am not saying that this was the case with your truck. On the other hand though, I would never buy a 10 speed tranny if I had any concerns for my fuel milage. It surely is just me and my old fashion take on things. I will gladly accept other alternative points of view on this subject. After all, it is never too late to learn something new.....
I am curious if you had left no stone unturned to make sure that every single component on that truck was up to spec and worked properly before you condemned it?
