Jake switch settings in Esa
I put a x15 cm2450 from a 2024 wreck into my 2016 peterbilt 579. It had a isx15 cm2350. I've got everything working except the brake switch, clutch switch, and Jake brake switch's. They show up and work on esa but are not communicating with the engine ecu. I'm sure it has to be a setting but I can't find anything. I've tried all the different source addresses on cummins. Currently have them set to 49 cab controller. Any guidance or does anyone have a parameter file for a similar truck vin is 1xpbd49x4gd203933

RE: Jake switch settings in Esa
- What should have happened is that the original CM2350 ecm and wiring harness be re-used on the new long block instead of trying to wire up the whole ecm, etc. Then a custom program made to run that newer hardware on the older model ecm.

yes in further research after the fact that is what sounds to have been a better plan. but the owner of the truck had the ecm tuned and was told it would work, and we were not supposed to have to deal with any of this and just do the engine replacement but now we have these issues and said "tuner" cant figure it out and the truck owner asked if I could try to figure something out. Id post up the tune file for shi#t talking opportunities but I dont have the right econfg file

the program can be copied out with a 'bgt' config if necessary.

What makes the newer ecm incompatible?
Anything I can do at this point? Engine seems to run fine it's got about 10k since the swap it just doesn't have working cruise control or Jake brakes. I suppose I could hardware Jake a cruise inputs but I'd rather not

RE: Jake switch settings in Esa
In Insite Under parameters,
Clutch position switch - installed
Parking brake switch - enable
Service brake switch - enable
These are parent settings separate from the next list which are nested under the following.

Under SAE J1939 Multiplexing

Clutch pedal position switch - enable
49 - cab controller primary

Cruise control on/off switch - enable
49 - cab controller primary

Cruise control set/resume switch - enable
49 - cab controller primary

Engine brake switch level - enable
49 - cab controller primary

Idle validation switch - disable

Parking brake switch - enable
49 - cab controller primary

Service brake switch - enable
49 - cab controller primary

In ESA engine brake level switch should be set for 0/33/66/100

That's how I've got it set now. Minus the park brake setting doesn't exist in sae multiplex on this unit

That's strange, it should be in there, otherwise it has nothing to point it on where to look for the signal from.
But if that is the case try setting parking brake to disable and see if things work then.

Still nothing. I spoke with someone at a local peterbilt dealer and they said that because the engine is a 2024 it's probably looking for a vecu and not thr cecu that is on this year truck. They advertise to use source address 39. But that didn't work either.
