What could be causing soot.
Hello everyone I have been having a problem with the engine making soot since rebuild. I had a recent Cummins emission update after my inframe. This been going on since the first 1000 miles since my inframe. I just went 3,5 miles and it made 4.15 oz of soot. I did the egr tuneup all new sensors cleaned egr. I put a new imap in the truck. Did injector test pass and leak down test to pass. Checked vgt on insite passed. I checked the accelerator to and it was off between primary and secondary pulse modulation. Could the accelerator send mixed signals? I’m at a lost trying to figure this out.

What make/model engine?.

== Make sure you have proper boost levels via a boost gauge.

== Make sure the exhaust and egr system is not clogged up with soot, etc. .. especially the egr system.

== make sure the egr valve is not hanging open.

also, Depending on the engine model and how much EGR is used, the red engine maker themselves say that it can be as much as 6+ lbs of soot can be produced every 45,000 miles or so (such as a CM871).
