Hello, and ty for letting us join..Husband broke down in Mo. Freightliner said it's turbo and actuator, $7,000. K, it's a isx871 2010, which he got a couple of months ago..Guy was done within a day, took for test drive, then they called Jason (spouse) to come get keys..he drove it down the road to get his trailer, then proceeded to drive under load. Engine shut off came on. He limped it back down, the mechanic gone, new mechanic says $1,100 to diagnose, now needs new camshaft,$15,000. Seriously?? Excessive Crankcase Pressure?? What am I/he missing?
Need to find another mechanic.

I don't see how a camshaft is going to cause high crank case pressure.
Omg. 7000 for a actuator. Is there something missing here cause that’s a crazy high price.

It was for a turbo and turbo actuator. I know, and now this ?

They said blow by #4 & #6 piston rings, I'll post a photo of lobes, camshaft.

If camshaft is bad itneed to be replaced but not gonna fix blow by. Go for complete overhaul and save money on labor.
Not in this shop.

Could it be a bad turbo or sensor?
They said blow by, I obviously don't trust them.
What causes excessive crankcase pressure?
Could be a lot of things. Piston rings to air compressor. That shop just charged you twice as much as it should have been. It’s likely a rebuilt turbo. Did it have blow by when it came to the shop. A rebuilt turbo is probably somewhere around 1500 Plus actuator.

Jason just said it was a reman turbo..and no blow by when it came in..When Jason went down the road to get his trailer, under the load is when the engine shut down came on, and misfiring and derate. When he limped it back, he asked them about a bad turbo, mechanic said they never had 1 come back bad, he just needs a rebuild. All they would say is rebuild, rebuild, rebuild. He first went in with no boost and sector shaft in turbo was frozen..The mechanic took it for a test drive after replacing turbo, never mentioned anything.
