You have to read the listing and make sure it comes with the insite program as well as the inline adapter. That one there does. It's version 7.6.2 which is all you need.

As far as a laptop goes, just get a cheap one with windows 7 and use it ONLY for diagnosing your engine and nothing else (keep it off pornhub ;) So it doesn't end up full of bugs.
