Smack on upper leaft area of ecm while idling. If it cuts out, the ecm is going bad.

Usual cause of ecm going bad like this is no one changing the crank shaft damper every 500k miles or so.

It pass the tap test does nothing when I hit it

Last time i had throttle issues i found some wires rubbed not to far from ecm,insite helps alot     does it still run on cruise when the throttle cuts out

So just to update everyone in case someone has a similar situation ... we change the ECM and truck was having the same issue... I found out that the gas pedal sensor is supply by the same part of the module as the coolant level sensor and the diesel particulate filter differential pressure sensor , this particular sensor is mounted on top of the dpf filter on the back of this truck that is prostar 09 , so I test for power on those sensor coolant was ok but the diesel particulate filter differential pressure sensor was reading low so I follow the harnes of that sensor that goes to the ECM under the truck and found that the harnes was touching the exhaust by the transmission ... pull the harnes fix the cables and place it in a different way so it dosent touch the exhaust and that did the trick...
