22 x15 Full Delete Questions ? I have recently purchased a 22 Pete 389 with a x15. I am looking to fully delete the truck. I am not sure where to start. I did not find any info on kits sold and when I speak to my mechanic he talks me in circles. I don't understand the difference in removing the EGR system or blocking it off. I am willing to buy a laptop setup that can also be used in the future with any other issues with the truck but I was not sure if the ones I am looking at will do the tune properly. I see one on diesel scanner.com for $2,600 but not sure if this will properly tune the truck after the delete looking for advice and steps to take to get this deleted and tuned personallyby me not a shop I have done many before just not on the big motors mostly ford 6.7 and Cummins ISB med duty if anyone can guide me a lil I'd appreciate it thank you!

RE: 22 x15 Full Delete Questions ? Assuming that it is legal in the country you live in for a moment ... I would say to leave everything in place instead of trying to strip things off the engine/vehicle. - Its not that complicated. Removing major components completely raises red flags on inspections, often causes issues if done incorrectly, and is a waste of time. Simply hollowing out all the the exhaust 'cans' internally, and using a proper block plate between the exhaust manifold and entrance to the egr cooler is more than sufficient. As far as software goes,.. an 'inline-6 datalink adapter kit' can be obtained off amazon or flea-bay for about 300 bucks or so. Anything more than that is a waste of time and moneys. That and a cheap win10 laptop is all someone needs to talk to and do what they want with the engine. As far as the programming itself .. with a cheap win10 laptop + the data-link adapter, you will be able to copy the ecm contents yourself (not very hard to do), or have someone remotely help you with it. If your familiar with getting around on a PC in general, many truck owners can figure it out how to copy program in/out of that ecm for themselves. Here is info on how that is done: https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?...5#pid72945 If you manage to copy file out yourself, its simply a matter of e-mailing to me for a review of whats in there + have any changes made to it within reason. that way you not getting ripped off and/or having a questionable crap de-mandate, etc. done. Don't end up like all these people did ... info: https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?...5#pid13255 ... and if you need help with it, remotely or otherwise, .. there are only about 5 or 6 people that I could officially recommend ... everyone else just simply butchers everything they touch badly with crap they copied off the inter-webs, all while ripping you off for big $$$ usually. Bad delete programming is an absolute plague in the trucking industry. ------ On a positive note,.. at least your doing your homework with it. Most people do not find this website until they have already done such things and it has killed their engine, or causing progressive damage that has cost them a fortune. More than 90%+ of all the delete programs that I review each year are absolutely damaging/harmful to the engine... all while the truck owner swears it seems to run ok. they don't learn this until a lot of severe damage has taken place like blown head gaskets, chewed up turbo, eaten valve train, or other major failures... all without even changing the power level of the engine itself. so ... NO!... don't trust your local mechanic.. or anyone else for that matter, it does not mater what you hear about them... and the bigger the name shop,.. the worse they are exponentially. RE: 22 x15 Full Delete Questions ? Before blocking off or hollowing cans you should make sure that the truck is in working order and also change out imap + exhaust back pressure sensors with genuine parts from dealer or reputable seller and clean intake manifold too while you can. Truck is three years old, but those sensors are the main culprits for emissions related issues, usually there are no fault codes for those sensors even when they are plugged. If you want to keep those systems intact you must bake the cans regularly, clean egr cooler, clean sensors, replace def and dpf injectors and so on. Read through this to get a better understanding how things actually work and what to in order to ensure properly running engine. https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=27
