ISX15 CM2250 Fuel Actuator Issues
Original complaint was the truck would die intermittently. Went to diagnose in the field and using Insite observed the truck surging at idle and the measured fuel control actuator current was jumping up to 58500ma. Then eventually it would return to normal operation. I did not witness the truck dying myself. But it seems to be happening every hour or so once it starts happening it keeps happening. Only seems to happen when the truck is warm.

Truck is demandated. High pressure system passes decay test. Replaced the actuator, wiring harness, and ECM. All OEM. Problem persists.

Do not know the origin of the demandate, could bad programming be the cause of intermittent electrical issues like this? Or maybe they are just presenting as electrical? I have the file for review via Calterm but do not know what to look for myself. I would like to submit it for review if possible to see if we acquired a truck with harmful programming. The problem hasn’t existed the entire length of ownership, but I know that doesn’t mean a bad tune couldn’t still be at the root of my problems.

I am getting multiple fault codes. They have been cleared multiple times, but just to give you an idea of the current count from only two days of running there are:
42 counts of 2311
20 counts of 553
4 counts of 272
2 counts of 559
2 counts of 1911

Thank you in advance for taking the time to consider my issues.

Forget about anything else until you have the programming reviewed and looked over.
Is the VGT turbo still there?

e-mail the program to me for review.. that is one aspect .. however ...
you also need to IMMEDIATELY!!!... pull that fiuel pump head off the fuel pump and inspect it guts, rollers, cam, etc !!!!.

Those common rail ISX's are notorious for the fuel pump to start going bad and causing 559 and other fuel codes... ALL WHILE COMPLETELY DESTROYING THE ENTIRE ENGINE!!!.

It is a VERY VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM to inspect for!.

.. and if it is chewed up, then you need to drop the oil pan and pull a rod and main bearing and see how much damage has set it... the engine may be saved if you caught it in time.. but it will need new oil pump, new oil cooler, new oil filter, bypass valve cleaned out, and engine flushed with diesel-oil mix for a few hundreds of c=gallons to get all the metal shavings out of it + all new injectors, fuel system cleaned out ,.. etc.etc etc. etc. /... you kinda get the picture?.

-----

- If the guts look good and pristine, then replace them all any ways (tappets, rollers, plungers, etc). - They are only god for 400k miles (or 8,000 hours) at a time any ways... even f they still look ok.
