RE: Desperate Trucker Owner.... SCR Melted
I fully appreciate the insight you have here..

I want to say i'm not one who generally fails to maintain my equipment i look at it as an investment. I have only had the truck about 130k miles.. so i can only attest to what i have done since i got it, I have done the overhead (twice once hot, and once cold was dissatisfied with the hot adjustment), and have done all required maintenance.. soot levels were very low, to low in each of my reports from JPRO, and i had come to find out that the previous company replaced the full aftertreatment about 300,000 miles ago due to some contaminated DEF (thats the story i got.. no idea how true it is)..

I will say that i'm new to the heavy truck world, and frankly new to having vehicles this high milage so i have not heard of doing a EGR Tuneup.. but it sounds like a reasonable suggestion and something i will definitely perform in the future.. so that does explain the turbo.

now for the SCR i have had a few revelations about that since my panic induced post here.

The dealer damaged my after treatment system, allowing a small gap between the DPF and the SCR.. This allowed air, and excessive DEF to be pumped in superheating the SCR, causing the SCR to melt, and DEF to be sprayed all over everything. as it still shows low to very low soot levels in the DPF i am hopeful that is the cause there. As for moving forward.. Delete, no delete, next truck this truck.. i will keep the ide a of an EGR tune up in mind :)

oh miles are at 635k i cant check my idle hours at the moment... i can only attest to how i use the truck, and i idle very little.. i have an EPU so i don't have to.. although i do end up idling a couple hours a night just due to battery drainage haha..

like i said i tend to not be one (at least so far in my career as an owner op) to shy away from even recommended maintenance.. I'm a better now than later kind of guy.. when i know what i need to do..

I appreciate all your input though.. i will take it to heart and try to keep up on this stuff even better...
