RE: 2636/SPN 641 FMI 9
If you are measuring 120-ohms on the J1939 network with everything plugged in, then one of your terminating resistors is missing. This can cause damage to the turbo actuator circuit board due to excessive noise getting into the J1939 wiring. Seen it before... or at the very least, random faults or other issues with the turbo.

it should be 60 ohms.

This leads to the next question.. is the truck de-mandated?.. (deleted?).. because if some complete moron unplugged everything under the truck, or straight piped it and yanked everything out from under there .. then that is exactly why that terminating resistor is gone. -=-=Idiots-r-us dot-deletes.com

And if it IS de-mandated.. then you can rest assured that there is more than a 90% likeliness that the program is nothing but harmful, engine and/or turbo killing garbage too.

The J1939 needs BOTH terminating resistors to function 100% correctly. One is located inside the turbo actuator itself, .. and the other is typically located (or was) in the harness behind the engine, usually down near the DPF system somewhere.

If it IS de-mandated, copy the program from the ecm and e-mail it to me for a proper review of what someone did in there.. good, bad, or downright harmful. It is nothing to take for granted.
